New Construction Project at Your Library

Note: The Indiana limestone pillars will be round instead of square to better match the building’s architecture.

Exciting changes are in the works @ WPL!

Coming soon…
A new and improved, architecturally-accurate awning and expanded patio area.

These are the initial sketches for the new awning over the Johnson Street entrance. This project will not only enhance the beauty of our building but will also correct the serious problems we have with water runoff and drainage (including flooding in the lobby).  In addition to fixing the water problems, an expanded patio area with seating will be added for outdoor programming, and the approach to the library will be more open and accessible.

Please note that during the project there will be limited access to the bookdrop at this entrance.   At these times, we will open the bookdrop that is in the door of our old main entrance on 5th Street for use during our closed hours.  A handicapped accessible bookdrop is available at our Checkout Desk during open hours.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience during construction.

We thank the Friends of the Library and the Debora Miller Kanaber Library Fund for their generous support of the project!
