Painting With Water-Mixable Oils

March 14 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

UPDATE: This class is FULL. You can add your name to the waitlist here.

Have some fun learning how to create artwork using water-mixable oils in a two-part class on Thursday, March 14th and Friday, March 15th both from 12-3PM in the Winona Public Library’s Bell Art Room. Registration is required as space is limited. To register, click on the link below.

In the first session, participants will learn the fundamentals of how different pigments dry, best practices for handling, mixing, and storing of paints, proper usage, cleaning, and caring for brushes; and how to store paintings. Participants will, also, be assisted in starting their own version of a basic landscape scene and will brush-in the painting’s background plane.

During the second session, participants will complete as much of the painting as possible and have some ideas on how to proceed with any unfinished details.

Water-mixable oils are a fairly new media that do not use volatile organic solvents but still take on the appearance of traditional oil paintings when dried.

Rita LaDuc is a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
