maker mondays

Maker Monday in the Park

Start your week with Monday morning exploration! Beginning June 12, join us Mondays at 10 AM for hands-on crafts, activities, and experiences. This series is great for ages 6 and up. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

June 12: Whitewater State Park Nature Education at Windom Park
June 19: Library closed – no Maker Monday
June 26: Reptile & Amphibian Discovery Zoo (RAD Zoo) at the History Center (160 Johnson St)*
July 3: Winona Area Public Schools Herky Bus activities at Windom Park
July 10: Whitewater State Park Nature Education at Windom Park
July 17: Lego Free Play at the Library (2nd floor)
July 24: Kite-making at Jaycee’s Shelter (Lake Park, Winona)

*The RAD Zoo performance is funded by the people of Minnesota through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Library Legacy fund, in cooperation with SELCO–our regional library system.

Storytime & Play in the Park

Beginning June 13, join Library staff and Park Rec staff Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at Sinclair Park! We’ll enjoy a themed storytime with songs and activities, followed by games, crafts, and movement! Storytime is 10-10:30 AM. Play is 10:30 AM-12 PM. Free lunch will be provided by Winona Area Public Schools at 11:30 and must be eaten on-site. There is no registration for this program, and it’s open to all.

*We will not be meeting on July 4.*

Page-Turners Book Club (Gr. 6-9)

Read and discuss a book while enjoying activities with your friends and WPL Youth staff! Book club meets every other Wednesday at 11 AM on the library’s 2nd floor. This book club is open to youth entering grades 6 through 9 in the Fall. Registration is required at the links below. You’ll be contacted about picking up the book once registered.

Bookworms Book Club (Gr. 4-6)

This book club is open to youth entering grades 4 through 6 in the Fall, strong 3rd grade readers welcome. Registration is required at the links below. “Junkyard Tough” Book Club with the Author!

Read and discuss the book, “Junkyard Tough: A Tail of Bravery” with the author, Jenny Baertsch! This book club meets on June 14 & 28 at 11 AM at the Winona Public Library. Jenny will lead a discussion of the book and then finish the time with an activity or craft related to the reading. This book club is open to youth in grades 2-4. Tecreation Coding: Sphero BOLT

Join us for three coding challenges at the library this summer! We’ll be using Sphero BOLTs at each session and will build on what we’ve learned each week. These programs are open to ages 9-15, no prior experience necessary. Registration is required.

Early Explorers (Ages 2-6)

On select Thursdays in June and July (see below) at 10 AM, we will gather our youngest learners to have fun and explore! Youth Services staff have activities planned that will not only be fun for your child but also help them to build early literacy and fine motor skills. No registration required.
