Beginning on June 3, join the Winona Public Library for a summer of adventure to maintain your excellent reading skills over the summer months!

Snake, Rattle, and Roll with Snake Discovery

Saturday, July 20

Winona History Center (160 Johnson St.)

Free tickets required to maintain a safe crowd space for the animals and attendees. You may only attend one of the two shows.

Learn about the reptiles and amphibians that call Minnesota home with Snake Discovery! We’ll watch a salamander eat, debunk turtle myths, touch snakes, and more. A large boa constrictor will even make an appearance.

Storytime with Munchkin the Mini-Horse

Tuesday, July 23 at 10:30 AM at Sinclair Park

Munchkin is a certified therapy miniature horse with dwarfism. This makes him extra small and extra special! Join us at Sinclair Park to listen to a story with Munchkin and learn about how our differences make us special. And then get a chance to pet Munchkin! This program is free and open to the public.

Storytime and Lunch in the Park

Tuesdays at 10:30 AM beginning June 11 at Sinclair Park

We’ll enjoy stories, songs, and movement together each week at Sinclair Park! Storytime is 10:30-11 AM. (Please note the time change from our school-year storytime sessions!)

Free lunch will be provided by Winona Area Public Schools at 11 AM for youth under age 18 and must be eaten on-site.

Bookworms Book Club (Gr. 4-6)

Read and discuss a book while enjoying activities with your friends and WPL Youth staff! Book club meets every other Wednesday at 11 AM on the library’s 2nd floor. This book club is open to youth entering grades 4 through 6 in the Fall, strong 3rd grade readers welcome. Registration is required at the links below. You can stop by the Youth department to pick up the book once registered.

Page-Turners Book Club (Gr. 6-9)

Read and discuss a book while enjoying activities with your friends and WPL Youth staff! Book club meets every other Wednesday at 11 AM on the library’s 2nd floor. early explorers

Early Explorers at Windom Park

On select Thursdays at 10 AM, we will gather our youngest learners to have fun and explore! WPL Youth staff have activities planned that will not only be fun for your child but also help them to build early learning and fine motor skills. No registration required. Free lunch will be provided for youth under age 18 from the Winona Area Public Schools Lunch Bus at 11 AM.

All programs are hosted at Windom Park and begin at 10 AM.

June 20: Nature Knowledge with Nora from Happy Dancing Turtle
Birds: Learn about bird behaviors and then do an egg hunt in the park to match the proper egg with the bird! After, participants will make bird puppets to pick up “worms” in the grass.

July 11: Yoga and Mindfulness with Dharma River: please bring a yoga mat or blanket.

July 25: Fairytale Frolic with Miss Tricia

Visit the Youth Department for a self-guided activity on select Saturdays this summer. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
