The library currently has in stock:
- Federal form 1040 and instructions (English and Spanish)
- Federal form 1040-SR and instructions (English and Spanish)
All other tax forms, including all State of Minnesota forms, are available for a printing cost of $0.10/page. Questions about tax forms can be directed to the Library’s Reference Desk at (507) 452-4860.
The library does have a limited number of Minnesota M1 and M1PR instruction booklets available for checkout and request in our online catalog.
The 2022 Minnesota Income Tax (M1) and Minnesota Homestead Credit Refund (Property Tax Refund) (M1PR) instruction booklets are available for a seven-day checkout.
Federal tax forms are available on the IRS website (www.irs.gov). Minnesota income and property tax forms are currently available on the Minnesota Department of Revenue’s website (http://www.revenue.state.mn.us).
If you do not have access to the Internet, you can order Federal forms by calling 1-800-829-1010. Minnesota forms can be ordered by calling 1-800-652-9094.
You can call the Reference Desk at (507) 452-4860 if you need a form that we do not have.
Note: The IRS does not allow our tax hub to order anything beyond the main 1040 form and instructions, and the State of Minnesota no longer reproduces print forms for tax hubs.
The IRS continues to encourage taxpayers to use the IRS Withholding Calculator to see if they need to make tax withholding changes.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
February 1st – April 15th, Appointments Required
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is sponsored by the IRS and Minnesota Department of Revenue.
Income limits apply as follows (adjusted gross income plus untaxed investment income):
- Dependents (student working but a dependent for parents): $30,000
- Single (no dependents): $40,000
- Family size 2 (married couple or single with one dependent): $50,000
- Family size 3 or more: $60,000
To find out if you are eligible for the free tax service, look at your 2021 tax returns and find the 1040 IRS form, Line 11 Page 1. If your adjusted gross income falls within the guidelines above and your income has not significantly increased, you are eligible to have your taxes done free at our tax site.
For a list of forms that you need to bring to the tax site, go to Catholic Charities of Minnesota’s VITA website. Further instructions will also be given when you call for an appointment.
Tax preparation procedures will provide maximized safety for clients and volunteers while assuring all standards for the completeness and accuracy of returns.
