Adopt-a-Shelf
Adopting a Shelf is like Minnesota’s Adopt-a-Highway Program. You can either pick a section in the library or we will assign you a section. Examples include adopting all the shelves containing James Patterson books or being assigned the 155-158 section in nonfiction. You can dedicate the shelves to someone, and we will create a sign on or near the shelves with that dedication. When you adopt a shelf, you are responsible for shelf reading that area as well as dusting and taking care of the area. You can do this as many times as you like with a minimum responsibility of two hours a month. Each person responsible for maintaining the shelf or shelves will need to undergo a brief training and must check in with the Reference Desk to record their hours. Supplies for maintaining the shelves are provided by the library.
